Sherlyn Chopra, who is excited about her film Kamasutra 3D is known for her bold and beautiful approach towards things. In a candid conversation with TOI, the model-turned-actress speaks her heart out about her film, her Cannes experience and India as a land of Kamasutra.
There was a promo on net where you are seen topless for your upcoming film Kamasutra. Tell us something about it.
It's a photo shoot video which was shot late last year to create imagery for the publicity of Kamasutra 3D at the American Film Market in Los Angeles in November last year and at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
When you signed the film were you sure about it?
I knew that if Playboy was my first step towards excellence than Kamasutra 3D would most definitely take me a hundred steps ahead.
India is land of Kamasutra, how do you see it?
I see India as a progressive country. If there are sexists in our country, then there are also non-sexists. And the latter outnumber the former. I stand for freedom of expression in life and in art. It feels great to know that Youngistan which represents the New India is not fearful of being the individuals who they want to be. The greatest asset of India is it's individuality.
Describe your Cannes journey?
Phenomenal!!!! To have made my debut at Cannes at a time when a century of Indian cinema was celebrated was overwhelming! The journey has been a dream come true. The kind of love and support that I had received at Cannes 2013 has humbled me as a person. The interest of the foreign media in Kamasutra 3D has reiterated that the film has a huge global appeal. I cannot wait to start shooting for the film.
TV and Bollywood what's important?
Television has a wider reach than 70mm. But when it comes to story telling, as a viewer, I enjoy the cinematic experience.
Who are your favourite actors in Bollywood?
I adore Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan and all those who are risk-takers.
